Lifespan and Reliability: Determining the Continuous Working Capacity of Chongqing Compression Springs

1. Fatigue Life

Key Factors: Alternating load amplitude, material surface quality, processing stress.

Design Considerations:

Reduce the spring index (C=D/d) to reduce stress concentration (recommended C value 4-12, avoid C<3 or C>15 leading to processing difficulties or excessive stress);

Shot peening increases surface compressive stress and extends fatigue life (e.g., shot peening can increase the lifespan of aerospace springs by 2-3 times).

2. Environmental Tolerance

Temperature Adaptability:

High-temperature environments (>200℃) require heat-resistant materials (such as Inconel alloy, silicon bronze) to prevent a decrease in elastic modulus leading to stiffness reduction;

Low-temperature environments (<-40℃) require low-temperature resistant stainless steel (such as 304L) to prevent material embrittlement and fracture.

Corrosion protection: Stainless steel (316L), plated springs (such as silver-plated or PTFE-plated) should be used in humid, acidic or alkaline environments, or epoxy resin coating should be used to isolate corrosive media.
